I absolutely hated GOTHIC3.
Where is the humor of the first two parts?
In the good gothic games, you started as a nobody and everyone treats you like a nobody.It had a good battle system and hell, I don't want to talk about the graphic engine.
It is a really disgrace compared to the other games.Not a reason to be proud anymore that the game is made by some people of your homecountry.But what do I say?I already made a big review of it on my blog on gamespot :/

The biggest fan community of Gothic is in Germany.
And if you play the german edition, than you know what I mean.
It's hilarious.Even the speaker actually do a great job, which is very rare in a german game.
Gothic 2 was full of that humor, but gothic 3 got "international".
Gothic always was a small rpg, not the best known one, but Gothic 3 was a attempt at the american market.
And a huge fail.
Of course some people like it, but those who did got bored of it after a month.(German release date was 13. October)
PB was in a huge Time pressure, which caused Gothic 3 to be:
-full of bugs
-no funny chats
-The nameless always says "okay"
-you encounter the incredible warthog of doom
-thanks to the failed battle system (leftklick = boring)
-Gothics unbelievable innovative quests aren't anymore.They degraded to simple "get me XXX and YYY".
-Rescuing citys is boring
-did I mention that you can kill a horde of orcs but one thog will kill you?
-The storytelling incredible sucked
-Nice graphics, but the system requirements are WAY too high
-If you put the graphic on low, it looks worse than Gothic 1 and still takes all your bytes.
-It is boring
-Items level with you
-Your comerades can die
-stupid AI
-bad balancing
-I missed a big city like khorinis
-You don't join a guild and never have the feeling of being part of a group
-The models look really bad
-The hero is a fat guy that lost his ponytail.
-The whole game wasn't finished
-loading takes forever
-you die very fast and have to load again

That's a small part of things that bugged me about the game, I can only recommend
getting the first two parts, they rocked.
And If you speak german, get the german version at all cost.
The english version hasn't nearly the wit of the original.

If you're looking for a ninja gameplay, you won't find any in Gothic
Seriously, I recommend you to play G1, G2

yeah, gothic 3 actually is a nice game, you just can't compare it with the first two parts
